Right to Work

Digger

New employees are issued with a form to complete with personal details, this includes obtaining information such as full name, date of birth, national insurance no.

All new employees are asked to provide a P45 from previous employer, if this is not available, we request they complete a P46 – Without either a P45 or P46 form we are unable to offer contract of employment.

Copies of identification are taken;

  1. Copy of a current and valid passport is required
    Where employee is unable to provide a copy of passport for any reason, we must take a copy of their birth certificate along with a written letter from HMRC that lists their national insurance no. so we can complete valid check of identification.
  2. An additional copy of photographic ID, i.e. Valid UK Driving Licence

In regards to non-UK nationals, we request the above documentation as normal process but do also request additional documents as per below to confirm right to work in the UK;

  • A current Immigration Status Document issued by the Home Office to the holder with an endorsement indicating that the named person is allowed to stay indefinitely in the UK or has no time limit on their stay in the UK, together with an official document giving the person’s permanent National Insurance number and their name issued by a Government agency or a previous employer.

  • A current Biometric Immigration Document (Biometric Residence Permit) issued by the Home Office to the holder indicating that the person named is allowed to stay indefinitely in the UK, or has no time limit on their stay in the UK.

  • A Registration Certificate or Document Certifying Permanent Residence issued by the Home Office, to a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland.

The above right to work checks are held confidentially and securely within the employee’s personnel file during their employment with the company.
