The Fox Brothers Group have been in the spotlight recently for a number of local acquisitions that they have made but there are also other areas where the Group is growing. They have recently taken over the Stevedoring operations at Glasson Dock in North Lancashire. And it all came about from a simple telephone call.
Paul Fox, Group MD, explains “We were looking at various options to transfer the |Aggregate we produce into the local North West area. We approached the Lancaster Port Commission to discuss the viability of utilising Glasson Dock to receive the aggregate. During the course of this enquiry and subsequent discussions, we were able to demonstrate the full scope of services that the Fox Group provides, and it soon became apparent that, with the existing circumstances and future plans for the dock, there was a perfect opportunity for us to expand our platform of services”.
Following on from these discussions, the Fox Group have now been appointed by the LPC to provide the full range of Stevedoring services at the Dock. This involves the loading and unloading of all materials from all the vessels that currently use the Port. The Group were also able to secure the jobs of 4 Stevedore’s who were facing an uncertain future.
Paul goes on “It is fantastic that we have been able keep the guys who were already there and they will be key players in how we build and develop our services at the Dock.
We are already having in-depth discussions with a few of our existing client base who are extremely interested in ways we may be able to work with them through the dock”.
The Fox Group have been busy in the last 14 months, they acquired Clive Hurt Plant Hire in September 2020, the Bacup Clay Company in March this year and, most recently, JJ O’Grady.
Paul ended with “This makes perfect sense to our business, it fits with what we do and we are working with some great people over at Glasson. We are really looking forward to driving this new arm of our business forward. Let’s see what the next ‘quick phone call’ brings!”
